Title: ‘Huka Falls’
Medium: oil on canvas panel
Dimensions: (wxh) 406 x 305mm
Surrounded by native bush, the Waikato River forces its way through the rock face of a hard volcanic ledge at Huka Falls. Approximately 220,000 tons of water (or 1 Olympic sized swimming pool every 11 seconds) rushes through pushing for its turn to drop the 11 metres and race on to the sea.The power of the water is incredible.
From a vantage point further up Huka Falls Rd we painted the morning away trying to capture the deep turquoise hues of the water racing below us… and beat the rain amidst the many tourists vying for a view of the famous Huka Falls.
