Drawing with Graphite

Drawing with Graphite is fun, easy and inexpensive…what’s not to love?! They are small enough that you can keep a set of pencils and paper in your handbag for all those little moments when you find yourself waiting for five minutes at the bus stop or for a meeting to begin. One tutor told of sketching […]
Nasturtiums in My Garden

Those round blobs of brightness yelling out “Yoohoo! Over here!” So easy to grow. So abundant in colour. So inviting to watch as they dance around the garden reminding us it’s Summer. I got to enjoy them as I sat outside in my little garden. Savouring their happiness today.

‘And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day…” (Gen. 3:8) Gotta say in Winter I have NO desire to go outside in the cool of the day, but come Summer I can be found out there in the garden everyday. Enjoying all the growing […]

Fulfilling my promise to draw them as a baby, I was not at all surprised that he chose this photo. Yes, these two have been bonded since the day they met…my darling dearest and son number one. He’s taller than his daddy now, but still proudly following in his footsteps. Embarking on the same career […]
A Clean Sweep

It wasn’t a New Year’s Resolution, though it should have been. Rather, a gift given to me that I was most grateful for. Tech-savvy daughter home for the holidays between uni courses and I am the grateful recipient of a cleaned, organised and backed up computer. But not only my computer, but also ipad and phone. […]

We found this fallen tree trunk in the Opepe Forest. Trying to get a good photo as reference to paint it, I stepped on it trying to get over and found myself right through it. It had truly surrendered. But it was in it’s surrender that it had given light to the other young trees […]

We’ve all done it… that moment at the bottom of tall trees as you crane your neck backwards searching for the top. I love it and have tried to capture that feeling in this painting. Does the painting make you feel that? Have a look here for more details.

I love the way nature looks after the weak and the young. These bush babies were found nestled among the roots of the magnificent Kahikatea on one of our walks in the Kaimanawa ranges. A few years from now and these young Lancewoods will in turn be giving shelter to other young trees. here’s the […]
Kahikatea

A trip to the White Pine Reserve in sunny Hawkes Bay, had us marveling at the beautifully bustressed kahikatea trees. So solid and straight. The light coming through and enveloping the trunk of this one caught my attention. So many little spots of beauty in the bush. 🙂 Check out the link to see more […]
Morning Light

What is your favourite time of day? I wouldn’t call myself a great morning person, but I do love the morning light. It has a beauty all of it’s own. Enough to make it worth getting out of bed for…most of the time. The dog, however, is a great morning, noon and night ‘person’ when […]
