All in a Vacuum

They’ve gone. After all the noise and activity of this Christmas holiday period they are gone. Within three days the nest was vacated. And I am all in a vacuum. But very grateful for those Boxing Day Sales that had each of them sent on their way with a new vacuum cleaner to start life […]

Those round blobs of brightness yelling out “Yoohoo! Over here!” So easy to grow. So abundant in colour. So inviting to watch as they dance around the garden reminding us it’s Summer. I got to enjoy them as I sat outside in my little garden. Savouring their happiness today.

Christmas break has been a fun time at our place. You’ve gotta love the ‘Great New Zealand Shut-Down’! Imagine a place where virtually the entire country shuts down and goes on holiday for a month over Christmas, New Year and on until school goes back after the Summer break. Pretty cool. huh?! Fulfilling my promise to draw them as a baby, I was not at all surprised that he chose this photo. Yes, these two have been bonded since the day they met…my darling dearest and son number one. He’s taller than his daddy now, but still proudly following in his footsteps. Embarking on the same career […]

I was enthralled! I love birds. What’s not to love? We had been walking with the swans and their three cygnets along the water front. Lots of people had been coming and going passed us, but we, having to walk slow for the nursing of my leg injuries, were enjoying the swan family at their […]

My poor darling dearest is used to this bizarre behaviour, […]

I am terrible at remembering birthdays. It is not unheard of for me to have finally got the present in a rush and a flurry and then realised too late that I had no wrapping or card, The kids all laugh and tell stories of how Mum wraps presents in teatowels or dressing gowns. Once […]

It was taking a while for her to peruse the dress shop. I had decided to stay in the car so we could keep the windows down keeping the car cooler for the dog. We don’t have this dress shop in our town so we were happy to wait. No one was fazed. And she […]
Sharing Susan’s Sheep

It was lambing time and Susan’s sheep are well worth a visit. Being Pitt Island sheep they aren’t your normal run of the mill whiteys but rather, just a little quirky with dreds of black and brown. Susan likes quirky. I gotta say I like them too. They are interesting. She takes her bucket of […]
Coffee Dates with Pansies

She had asked me to come for coffee to her favourite cafe. I was there a couple of minutes early and so was waiting outside to meet up…why go inside when the sun was beaming down outside, right?! With all the warmth of spring their little pots adorning the door and windowsill were blooming gorgeous […]
